China’s Red Panda has become a tourist magnet. Over 5Billion tourists are attracted to tourism annually. Many of these tourists will visit the local zoos in their travels to see Red Pandas. The economy will benefit by keeping people coming to the zoos. Their fur is often used as carpets, hats and jackets. Unfortunately, this is not the only negative effect they have on China’s economy. Red Panda aren’t China’s most popular tourist attraction, but their presence is essential to maintain the viability of tourism industries like zoos.

Red Panda Population is being decimated by single-handed humans. Growing human populations in China’s Himilaya Mountains and central China has meant that there are more farms, ranches, houses, and other uses for wood. The more wood-hungry people are destroying lush forests in China and Nepal. This is creating a severe problem for the red panda community, as they lack adequate living spaces and food sources. This is unacceptable as only 3.34% remains of China’s forest ecosystem, which is causing serious damage to the country’s inhabitants. For the Red Pandas to survive, it’s imperative that something is done quickly. To compensate for this loss, China’s other industries would have to grow. It is entirely possible. This is because the number of lumber workers in China may start to decline as the forest shrinks. China Longjiang Forest Industry General Corporation has been ranked as one of the biggest importers, buyers, and exporters in the world of wood-based items. China also has over 15% illegal wood-based product imports and exports. The Red Panda must be saved from deforestation by enacting new legislation to reduce the power of logging companies. Stopping deforestation in China and Himilayan mountains will be the main cost of saving the red panda. This is a difficult task because it would require the implementation of new legislation. These laws could have many different economic implications. China’s log industry is becoming increasingly dependent upon imports as the local forest resources start to diminish. The industry revenue from sole imports will grow at 8.0% annually over five years to $26.7 billion. This trend will increase by 4.3% by 2020. China could make logging more profitable by increasing its imports. This symbiotic relationship might help China to reduce deforestation. It could also lead to a slow rise in red panda numbers. What people are doing to helpThe Appendix I of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora is dedicated to the Red Panda. It is also included in Schedule I, the Indian Wildlife Protection Act 1992. This is the most protection that any Indian species can receive. It is also protected by Bhutan and China. China has the species red-listed as vulnerable under Act A2. There are two main programs for forest preservation! The Natural Forest Protection Program aims to protect and restore forests. The Grain-for-Green Program transforms crops into a forest that allows animals such as Red Pandas to live again. All agencies are trying to save the red-panda from becoming an endangered species. The red panda is found in Myanmar’s Hkakaborazi National Park and Hponkanrazi Wildlife Sanctuary. Emaw Bum has proposed a National Park. It is not possible to estimate the Red Panda’s total range within the protected areas. These areas are not suitable for hunting or logging, and Emaw Bum is no exception. The red panda is found in Bhutan’s Jigme Dorji and Thrumshingla National Parks, Bumdeling Wildlife Sanctuaries and Torsa Strict Nature Reserve. It is also found in the Royal Botanical Park and Khaling Wildlife Sanctuary. China has less protected areas for red pandas because they have less land and need it to support their large logging industry. A great first step is visiting conservation websites such as the Pegasus Foundation https://www.pegasusfoundation.org/saving-red-panda/ or learning how you can make an impact. There are many ways to make a difference. You can also sign petitions or make donations. You can also draft a bill and present it to China’s National People’s Congress, provided you have done your research. There are many ways you can contribute. You just need to choose the best one for you.
